I got in a fender bender and failed the field sobriety test, so I was
charged with a dui. Then my urine test came back negative and the
prosecution dropped the charges. I'm 63 with diabetes so I can't keep
my balance to walk the line, which is why I failed. I was handcuffed
and taken to headquarters. In the end I was convicted of the fender
bender a 4th degree misdemeanor. Now it's all over. The law says if I
am impaired by prescription medication it counts just as bad as alcohol.
I have accident forgiveness so my insurance isn't going up. The wreck
was my fault even though their headlights/directional signal weren't on,
so my insurance paid for their damages. Fortunately I was paid up on my
insurance.

So what do you think? Did my sobriety date go from August 15, 1996 to
June 8, 2024?

No one but you gets to decide what your sobriety date should be.

Thank you badgolferman. I don't know the answer, but it does take some
wind out of my sails to announce myself with 28 years. I relapsed on
medication I took as prescribed, not alcohol or nicotine. My biggest
priority now is my weight.
