I went on a five day motorcycle trip with a bunch of other AA friends.
We left last Wednesday and got back on Sunday. Originally we were
supposed to go south toward Asheville, NC and explore the motorcycle
rides in the North Carolina mountains, but the flooding devastation
down there forced us to go north instead. We went into the mountains
of West Virginia, Ohio Valley, and Shanksville, PA to see the Flight 93
memorial.
The first day was raining as we made our way to Elkins which made the
West Virginia mountain twisty roads even more hazardous, but that
doubled the fun! The second day we stayed in Bridgeport West Virginia
and explored more mountain roads. The third day we went to Shanksville
for the memorial, dit the Triple Nickel run (Rte 555) and then stayed
in Athens, Ohio. The fourth day we took the back roads and mountain
passes to Lexington, VA. The fifth day we rode the entire width of
Virginia across the rural roads from Lexington to Hampton Roads area.
I received a huge compliment from our ride leader when he told me I've
come a long way on the bike.
The only blemish of the entire trip was seeing #1 Alabama lose to lowly
Vanderbilt Saturday. But at least on Sunday I got to see the
Washington ex-Redskins put a whooping on the Cleveland Browns so that
kind of made up for it.
